Actor Ted Danson put his many years of work behind the bar on hit comedy Cheers bar to use to raise cash yesterday (08NOV03).

Danson, 55, who played SAM MALONE in the sitcom for 12 years, went behind the bar and mingled with donors at a fundraiser for the MUSEUM OF NORTHERN ARIZONA.

The screen star's father, EDWARD B 'NED' DANSON, became the director of the museum in 1959 when Ted was 12, and the family lived in the homestead across the street from the museum.

Danson says, "It is really a little jewel. It really needs to be supported. It's all private and it really does need the community, which includes all of Arizona, to support it. That's my hope."
