Star visits 10 year-old fan suffering from leukemia
Taylor Swift’s been in the news for slightly dubious reasons of late, so it’s nice to be able to report that the pop star has been some right noble do-gooding as well in between feuding with Golden Globes hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, and moving swiftly on to a reported romance with Ed Sheeran.
According to Omaha.com, the singer popped into one of the region’s hospitals in Nebraska to visit 10 year-old Lauren Hacker, who is sadly suffering from acute myelocytic leukemia. Commenting on the visit, Hacker’s parents wrote on her Caring Bridge blog “It is hard to come down off of the Taylor Swift high. The weekend couldn't have been any better. Lauren has delighted in telling her friends about her experience. She has been bubbly and smiling most of the time.”
Taylor Swift made headlines for good reasons this week
“I was very inspired when Taylor's mom and I were talking about what a nice young woman she had raised …” they continued. “It was such a special visit because she was very present in the moment. It was like welcoming a new friend into our family and spending some time getting to know her. I was so focused on getting Taylor to meet Lauren to put a spark in Lauren and help her fight leukemia, but I had no idea she would inspire the whole family. She came at a perfect time for our all of us.” Nice one, Taylor.
