Taylor Swift has dethroned Kim Kardashian as the Queen of Instagram, with the news that the all-conquering pop star now has more followers than the selfie aficionado. Swift’s following has grown to 45.9 million people, while Kardashian’s is 45.7 million.

This figure is quite impressive when you consider that the 25 year old doesn’t actually post that many pictures. She’s only taken 689 pics (at the time of writing), whereas Kardashian has posted over 3,000 times, most of them selfies.

It might have something to do with the amount of pictures Swift takes of her BFFs, such as Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid, and the never-ending stream of guest stars she brings on stage as part of her live act, like Justin Timberlake and Ellen DeGeneres. Or it could just be all the goofy cat pictures and sweater selfies she takes. Either way, it would seem to be more appealing than Kim’s endless duckfaces and party pictures.

Only last month, Swift was third behind Kardashian and fellow pop queen Beyonce with 45 million, but it seems that her much-talked about North American tour has attracted another 900,000 fans in a short space time.

In other Swifty news, she took to the social media site on Thursday (September 10th) to share some great news about her younger brother Austin, 23, who has just starred in his first major movie role. The younger Swift will be in the new thriller I.T., playing a character called Lance alongside the likes of Pierce Brosnan and Stefanie Scott, according to Deadline.

“My brother @austinkingsleyswift just acted in his first movie and I’m all proud and stuff,” Swift wrote. The siblings are sometimes spotted together at various awards ceremonies, and last month attended an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty where Taylor’s friend Lorde tweeted about their close relationship.
