Taylor Swift has been nominated for the 2011 Country Music Awards after they were officially announced on Tuesday (06.09.2011)

The 21-year-old singer will compete against Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban for the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award. Swift has also been nominated for Best Female Vocalist and will be hoping to collect both awards when the winners are announced live on air, November 9th. The nominees are decided by business members of the Country Music Association and were created in 1967; the award ceremony is attended by the stars of the country music world and also features performances by established as well as new and upcoming talent.

Taylor Swift was born in Pennsylvania and released her self-titled debut album in 2006. She has since gone on to release two further albums, Fearless in 2008 and Speak Now in 2010 and has sold a combined 20 million copies as well as 34 million singles worldwide. The singer-songwriter has also appeared in several movies including Valentine's Day, a romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Jamie Foxx, she later took the Teen Choice Award for Movie Female Breakout for this role. The Love Story singer has also been involved with several charitable causes including donating $100,000 to the Red Cross to help flood victims in Iowa. She has also donated $250,000 to various schools around America that she had attended to support students and develop education.
