Taylor Swift is having a tough time of things at the moment and the release of this year’s Video Music Award (VMA) nominations has not helped improve her outlook. Unfortunately, the singer received no nominations despite releasing three videos during the last year and in comparison to a stonking 10 nominations last year for Bad Blood.

To make matters worse, Taylor’s current rivals - Kanye West and ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris - have found themselves with recognition, although Calvin’s song, This Is What You Came For, was co-wrote with Swifty herself.

Taylor has released Wildest Dreams, Out Of The Woods and New Romantics during this year from her latest album, 1989.

The 26-year-old singer made headlines following last year’s VMA nominations when Nicki Minaj was overlooked for Anaconda and the rapper lamented how black women are rarely recognised for their contribution to music.

Swift thought Nicki was targeting her personally and the two became embroiled in a short but vicious public spat.

Despite, Taylor’s lack of nominations this year, other artists have faired better with Beyoncé taking a career-best 11 nominations for her visual album, Lemonade and Britain’s very own Adele receiving eight nominations for Hello and Send My Love (To Your New Lover).
