The video for Taylor Swift 's 'Safe and Sound' has premiered in the United States on MTV. The video for the track, which is scheduled to feature in the Hunger Games soundtrack, was shown yesterday (February 13, 2012). 'Safe and Sound' is a collaboration between Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars. The video was released on the back of a successful night at the Grammys success for both artists.
The video was introduced by Swift and features scenes of Taylor walking through a wintery forest, whilst Joy and John Paul of The Civil Wars are pictured by a blazing fire in a remote cottage. The verses are led by Taylor, but the voices of The Civil Wars are heard in harmony with hers in the chorus, with the lyrics "Just close your eyes / the sun is going down / you'll be alright, no one can hurt you now / come morning light / you'll be safe and sound." Hunger Games is scheduled for release in March this year and stars Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth.
Taylor Swift walked away from Sunday's ceremony with two Grammy Awards to add to the four that she won back in 2010. She landed the Best Country Solo Performance for 'Mean' and Best Country Song for the same track. However, she missed out on Best Country Album though; that accolade went to Lady Antebellum for their album 'Own the Night.' The Civil Wars found success in the Folk category, winning Best Folk Album for their debut long-player Barton Hollow. They also showed their crossover appeal, by winning Best Country Duo / Group Performance. Taylor Swift also performed at the ceremony and introduced a tribute to the legendary country star Glen Campbell, who will shortly be retiring from his music career after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
