It's been revealed exactly why country music star Taylor Swift ended up going to the Academy of Country Music awards alone. The 22 year-old, who won the Entertainer of the Year award for the second time running, was supposed to be taking 18 year old Kevin Mcguire - who is suffering from cancer - to the ceremony, after he posted on her Facebook page, asking her to be his prom date. Sadly, Kevin, from New Jersey, was taken to hospital unexpectedly and was unable to go to the show, so Taylor made sure to give him a public mention, reports People magazine
"My date tonight was supposed to be a high school football player named Kevin Mcguire and he's not here, but I promised I'd give him a shout out. Kevin and all your family and all your friends, thank you for wanting to take me to the ACMs." Wearing a floor-length sculpted white and gold dress, Taylor looked stunning as she collected her award, and made special mention of her fellow nominees. Taylor beat the likes of Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton to the award, taking it home for the second year in a row.
Taylor Swift also won the 'Big Help Award' at the Kids' Choice awards. Her prize was presented by none other than Michelle Obama, First Lady of the USA. When she accepted the award onstage, Taylor said "I am so honoured to be receiving this award from the First Lady of the United States. I am freaking out."
