With rumoured ‘bad blood’ with Katy Perry, Twitter feuds with Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus criticising the violent content of one of her music videos, Taylor Swift isn’t that popular with many of her fellow artists. Perry called out Swift’s reaction to Nicki Minaj’s complaints to not receiving enough MTV Video Music Awards nominations as ironic. “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…” she said, a tweet quickly favorited by Minaj.

Jason Sheldon of British photography agency Junction 10 published a criticism of Swift's image rights policy last month.
Following a recent open letter by a British photographer, Taylor Swift has apparently relaxed restrictions on image rights at her live shows. The rules have apparently been renegotiated between Swift’s representatives and groups representing photographers and news agencies in the US.
Walsall-based freelance photographer Jason Sheldon posted an open letter on his personal blog back in June accusing Swift of “double standards” in her (eventually successful) dispute with Apple Music over the three-month trial period for their streaming service which meant that artists would not be paid royalties for their music.

Perry made more than any other musician this year including rival Taylor Swift and boyband One Direction.
Katy Perry graces the cover of Forbes' annual ‘Highest Earning Celebrities’ issue this month, as the singer is ranked as the world’s highest paid female entertainer as well as the biggest money making musician. Perry comes in a number three overall on the list and is beaten only by boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao after their record breaking fight last month.

Mayweather tops the list after making an incredible $300 million in earnings, mostly thanks to the ‘fight of the century’ which took place May 1st in Las Vegas. His opponent Manny Pacquiao didn't do too badly for himself either, coming in second place with earnings of $160 million.

Cara, Gigi, Karlie and Kendall all strutted their stuff during the singer’s sold out Hyde Park show.
Taylor Swift put the UK leg of her mammoth 1989 tour to rest on Saturday evening, with a sold out open air show at London’s Hyde Park. During the show Swift showcased tracks from her most recent release 1989, while still treating fans to re-workings of classic tracks such as ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ and ‘Love Story’.
Taylor Swift performed at London’s Hyde Park on Saturday.
Swift arrived on stage 15 minutes early, opening with ‘Welcome to New York’, before going in to ‘New Romantics’ and then smash hit, ‘Blank Space’ all from 1989. The two hour show featured 17 of Swifty’s finest songs, with the singer joined on stage by 12 male dancers, four female backing singers and a five-piece band.
"Hello, I'm Taylor, and I love seeing a sold out Manchester Arena", called Taylor Swift as if the fifteen thousand people screeching from the stands didn't know who she was. For someone with seven Grammy Awards, Swift immediately came across as an incredibly humble performer. This could be one of the best things about her performance at Manchester Arena on Wednesday night - her vigorous determination and beaming smile showed that she wanted to be on stage as much as her fans did.
Attracting fans of all ages from across the world, Swift was met with a tremendous applause and insanely strong reaction from the crowd as she launched straight into 'Welcome to New York'. It set the scene well; we were all there for an evening with Swift in the magical musical world she had created. "There's something else you should know about me", she said after her first song. "I was born in 1989!"
Stories about heartbreak, believing in yourself and (surprise, surprise) heartbreak again were honest, and moving. Her joyous and bubbly personality was heightened by moments where she played the wrong note on the piano (and informed everyone) and laughed when one of her backing dancers made a funny face at her from behind a clear screen. These minor moments humanised her performance, reminding the audience that the superstar on stage was a real person, not just a manufactured pop robot.

The veteran singer-songwriter had been waiting nearly 50 years for a US Number One album.
Throughout his lengthy and prestigious career, singer-songwriter James Taylor has achieved many great things, but a US Number One album has always eluded him: until today! Taylor’s 47 year wait for a Billboard chart topping LP came to an end this week as it was announced that his new effort Before This World had outsold all rivals.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, Taylor’s 17th studio album sold 97,000 copies in its first week of release to debut atop the Billboard 200, with 96,000 of those coming through actual album sales (as opposed to streaming or track equivalents). His very first album, a self-titled effort, was released in December 1968 but only achieved a chart peak of Number 62 in the US.

Swift effected a change in Apple Music's policy with an open letter, but now a photographer has accused her of doing exactly the same thing to freelance photographers over image rights.
Earlier on Monday (June 22nd), the pop star made headlines after a letter she addressed to Apple Music caused a U-turn in its policy. Swift had claimed that the company’s stance on withholding payments to artists during a three month trial period was “not fair”, and had threatened to prevent Apple from streaming her current smash hit album 1989.
Sheldon effectively argued that this stance was hypocritical because she does not play fair over image rights. “If you don't like being exploited, that's great - make a huge statement about it, and you'll have my support,” he wrote. “But how about making sure you're not guilty of the very same tactic before you have a pop at someone else?”
The singer’s open letter has caused Apple to change its policy on artists’ royalties head of its three-month trail period.
When Taylor Swift speaks even Apple takes notice. Yes, following an open letter from the singer to Apple over the weekend the company has announced it will be paying royalties to artists during the three-month trial period of its new streaming service, Apple Music.
Taylor Swift has taken on Apple and won.
Eddy Cue, a senior executive at Apple Music made the announcement on Twitter, writing ‘Apple will always make sure that artist are paid. #AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period. We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple.’

The singer has explained why she’ll be holding back her album '1989' from Apple Music in a no holds barred open letter.
Taylor Swift has criticised Apple’s new streaming service ‘Apple Music’ in a lengthly open letter posted on the singer’s personal Tumblr page. In the letter Swift attacks Apple for its decision not to pay artists royalties during the three-month free trial of its new streaming service. It’s not the first time the singer has hit out against streaming companies as last year she famously pulled all of her music from Apple's rival Spotify.
Don’t expect to hear Taylor Swift’s 1989 on Apple Music anytime soon.
Swift begins the letter, titled ‘To Apple love Taylor’, by telling fans she wishes to explain why she’ll be holding back her million selling album, 1989, from Apple Music. “I’m sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free three month trial to anyone who signs up for the service,” Swift begins.

Her hardline stance on streaming will be extended to the brand new streaming service which launches on June 30th.
Taylor Swift is set to give a big snub to Apple Music when it launches officially at the end of the month, with reports emerging that the singer will not be making her current album 1989 available to the new streaming service.
Swift became the most prominent advocate of the non-Spotify model of music distribution at the end of the last year, when she removed her entire back catalogue from the streaming site just before the release of 1989. It didn’t seem to harm her sales – it has sold in excess of five million copies to date, making it the biggest selling album of 2014 and 2015 (so far).

Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun are celebrating their fourth album reaching the top spot, following the slow-burning success of its predecessor 'Vessel'.
Indie pop duo Twenty One Pilots are celebrating their first ever US Number 1 album, after the group’s second major label record Blurryface entered at the top of the Billboard 200. It sold 146,000 copies in the week ending May 24th, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Of that figure, a solid 134,000 were direct album sales, a healthy indication of the recent resurgence in physical music purchasing. Blurryface is Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun’s fourth album in total, following their Fueled By Ramen debut Vessel back in 2013.

A Montana high school teacher agreed with a student that if Tay calls him during a world history exam, the students won't have to take the test.
A high school in the town of Billings, Montana has made national news after a classroom video went viral, showing a teacher agreeing with his world history students that they will be exempt from their final exam this year if Taylor Swift calls him during the test.
Local news website KTVQ reports that a student named Ike Stoner came up with the terms of the deal, to which his teacher, Colter Pierce, agreed. They wrote up the deal on a whiteboard, shook hands and posted photos on Twitter and Facebook, which have since been shared and liked thousands of times.

Swift took to the stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich, just before headline act Foo Fighters - Grohl perhaps responded in this way out of guilt!
BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend witnessed an event that will probably never be seen again: Taylor Swift was not the headline act! The multi-million selling star took to the stage before Foo Fighters at Earlham Park in Norwich on Sunday evening.
Perhaps to mark this momentous event, the band’s lead singer Dave Grohl dedicated a number of songs during their set to her. Before ripping into ‘Congregation’, a track from their newest album Sonic Highways, Grohl revealed that the song was written in Nashville, which many will regard as Tay’s spiritual home despite her recent pop makeover.

This week, The Killers frontman dominated the chart all on his own.
After taking over London in a series of gigs this week, Brandon Flowers has also conquered the UK Charts. His second solo album, The Desired Effect, now sits pretty at the top of the album chart. It was a close race between Flowers and fellow indie frontman Paul Weller, but eventually Flowers’ album finished 5,000 combined chart sales ahead of the rock veteran.
Flowers and his shiny jacket took over the UK charts this week.
Flowers played one date in Dublin and two at London’s O2 Academy in the past week. In the next few days, the tour will hit Edinburgh, Leeds and Birmingham.

But there’s no stopping OMI’s ‘Cheerleader’ in the single’s chart.
The Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers has scored his second UK number one solo album after The Desired Effect went straight to the top of the charts this weekend. Flowers’ previous solo offering, Flamingo, took the top spot in 2010, while The Killers’ have scored four number one albums in their career so far.
Flowers has topped the UK album chart for the second time.
Flowers outsold his closet rival Paul Weller by just 5,000 sales with the Jam frontman’s Saturn’s Pattern entering in the number two spot. In the number three position was last weeks chart topper Mumford & Sons with Wilder Mind, which slipped two places, while Taylor Swift’s 1989 enjoyed its 30th week in the top 100 at the number four spot.

Have you seen Taylor Swift’s video for Bad Blood already? Statistically speaking, if you’re on the internet, you probably have. The thing is everywhere. It’s already broken the record, specifically Vevo’s record for most views in a day.
Once again, Taylor Swift wins all the things.
The video first premiered at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 17) and since then, the internet (specifically Tumblr) has gone NUTS. Selena Gomez! Hayley Williams! Zendaya! Cara Delevingne! The explosions! The leather bodysuits! The GIFs!

Taylor is seen taking an epic tumble while filming one of her stunts for the 'Bad Blood' video.
We can all agree that Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ video contains some pretty impressive action scenes involving the singer and her cast of famous friends. But unsurprisingly, not every stunt went according to plan first time around. But proving she's only human, Taylor has decided to let fans in on one moment on set, when she suffered an embarrassing stunt fail.

Swift follows in the footsteps of Candice Swanepoel, Miley Cyrus and Jessica Alba as the publication named her top of its annual list.
Less than twenty four hours after scooping an incredible eight trophies at the Billboard Music Awards at the weekend, Taylor Swift has been bestowed with yet another honour. She’s been named number one in Maxim magazine’s annual Hot 100 list, it was revealed on Monday.
The 25 year old country-turned-pop star, whose current album 1989 has sold in excess of 4.6 million copies in just over six months, topped the publication’s list of the most influential actresses, singers and female models.

It's here, and it's stunning.
Taylor Swift ft. Kendrick Lamar was not a combination we ever thought we'd see, but with their collaboration on 'Bad Blood' - alongside a host of other celebrities in the hotly anticipated video - seems this pop starlet is ever expanding her much-loved sound.

There might be a whole action movie vibe to the video, which opened at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards yesterday (May 17th 2015), but there's not much to it in terms of plot. It opens with Catastrophe (Taylor Swift) and Arsyn (Selena Gomez) seemingly working together to defeat a horde of masked assassins, before Arsyn - with her eyes on the prize - takes out Catastrophe too. Then she finds herself at Welvin Da Great's (Kendrick Lamar) headquarters being - for want of a better word - 'repaired' by The Trinity (Hailee Steinfeld x3) before rallying her army of scantily clad beauties to go against her newfound enemy.

Also, some other people won some other stuff.
At last night’s Billboard Awards, Taylor Swift reached a new milestone in her career, becoming the award show’s most decorated artist. Her eight awards (out of 14 nods), including one for Best Artist, bring her Billboard total to twenty, more than the previous record holder, Garth Brooks.
All of the awards.
Taylor had more than one reason to celebrate on Sunday though, since the award show coincided with the release of her music video for Bad Blood, featuring the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Zendaya, Ellie Goulding, Hayley Williams and many more. The video premiered at the awards, after a brief introduction from the woman of the hour. Taylor also won a special achievement award chosen by fan voting.

Taylor Swift tweets to reveal the final character in the hotly awaited video for her new single.
It's not often a simple music video receives this much hype before anyone has even seen it - but the video for Taylor Swift's new single 'Bad Blood' looks to be anything but simple. It's a celebrity-packed spectacle with a Sin City-like visual style, and Swift has just revealed the lead actress at the centre of all the drama is Selena Gomez, playing a femme fatale named Arsyn.
Girl power: Swift teams up with other female stars in Bad Blood
Selena Gomez joins Swift (who plays Catastrophe) and a long list of other female stars in the video, including Gigi Hadid (as Slay-Z), Hayley Williams (The Crimson Curse), Ellie Goulding (Destructa X), Lena Dunham (Lucky Fiori) and Jessica Alba (Domino).
