Taylor Swift (born 13.12.1989)
Taylor Swift is an American Country-turned-Pop artist, who has earned seven Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard awards, eleven Country Music Association Awards and seven Academy of Country Music Awards as of January 2015.
Net Worth: According to Celebrity Net Worth in 2014, Taylor Swift has a net worth of 200 million USD.
Childhood: Taylor Swift was born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania to Andrea and Scott Kingsley Swift. Swift began writing her own music at around the age of ten. She went on to perform some of these songs live at local karaoke contests, festivals and fairs, before compiling her own demo tape when she was eleven. Swift travelled to Nashville and began handing out the demo tape to receptionists on Nashville's Music Row, and despite many rejections, she was later chosen to sing the national anthem at the US Open tennis tournament. With the sudden growth of her potential career, the Swift family moved to Nashville entirely. Swift gave a performance at the Bluebird Café, which was seen by Scott Borchetta of Big Machine Records. He promptly signed Swift to the label.
Career: Taylor Swift released her debut single, 'Tim McGraw', on 19th June 2006 at the age of 16. The film reached the 40th spot on Billboard's Hottest 100, and the 6th spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. Later in the same year, Taylor Swift released her self-titled debut studio album, which was released on 24th October 2006. The album received glowing reviews, and shot to the top of the Billboard Country Albums charts, as well as coming in at number five on Billboard's 200 list. The film went on to become double Platinum in the UK and 6x Platinum in the US. On 14th October 2007, Swift released 'Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection'. The EP received moderate results and topped the US Holiday Albums Charts, as well as reaching the 20th Spot on Billboard's 200 list. It was swiftly followed by a second EP, 'Beautiful Eyes', which was released on 15th July 2008. The EP topped the US Country Albums charts, as well as reaching the ninth spot on Billboard's 200 list. The EP was still on Billboard's 200 (admittedly at number 192) by the end of the year - almost six months later. On 11th November 2008, Taylor Swift released her second studio album, 'Fearless', which received glowing reviews and became her first chart topping album. As well as topping the Billboard 200 list in 2009, it was still in seventh position in 2010, and was still in the charts at number 88 in 2011, and was still in the charts at 126th position in 2012. This helped the album become 6x Platinum in the US and Australia, as well as being certified 9x Platinum in the Philippines. 'Fearless' was still in the Billboard charts when Taylor Swift released her third studio album, 'Speak Now'. The album was released on 25th October 2010. Again, the album received glowing reviews and topped 7 main albums charts, including Billboard's 200 and the US Country Music charts. The following year on 21st November 2011, Taylor Swift released her first live album from her world tour. 'Speak Now World Tour - Live' received moderate reviews, yet did not see as much success as the previous album. It still, however, reached the 11th spot on Billboard's 200 List. On 22nd October 2012, Taylor Swift released 'Red', her fourth studio album. It received strong reviews, and reached the top spot of ten major world album charts. It also became Swift's third album to remain at the top spot on Billboard's 200 list for six weeks, making Swift the first artist to achieve that in 43 years since The Beatles. Swift released her fifth studio album, '1989', on 27th October 2014. The album received strong reviews again and received very similar success and became the bestselling album in the US of 2014.
Personal Life: In July 2008, Taylor Swift dated Joe Jonas until they broke up in October 2008, when Swift began dating Taylor Lautner until December of the same year. Between late 2009 and early 2010, Swift was romantically linked to John Mayer. Between October and December 2010, Swift dated Jake Gyllenhaal, although they were seen together in January and February of 2011. Between July and September 2012, Swift dated Conor Kennedy, before dating One Direction singer Harry Styles between October 2012 and January 2013.
Perry made more than any other musician this year including rival Taylor Swift and boyband One Direction.
Katy Perry graces the cover of Forbes' annual ‘Highest Earning Celebrities’ issue this month, as the singer is ranked as the world’s highest paid female entertainer as well as the biggest money making musician. Perry comes in a number three overall on the list and is beaten only by boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao after their record breaking fight last month.
Katy Perry is 2015’s highest earning musician.
Mayweather tops the list after making an incredible $300 million in earnings, mostly thanks to the ‘fight of the century’ which took place May 1st in Las Vegas. His opponent Manny Pacquiao didn't do too badly for himself either, coming in second place with earnings of $160 million.

Cara, Gigi, Karlie and Kendall all strutted their stuff during the singer’s sold out Hyde Park show.
Taylor Swift put the UK leg of her mammoth 1989 tour to rest on Saturday evening, with a sold out open air show at London’s Hyde Park. During the show Swift showcased tracks from her most recent release 1989, while still treating fans to re-workings of classic tracks such as ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ and ‘Love Story’.
Taylor Swift performed at London’s Hyde Park on Saturday.
Swift arrived on stage 15 minutes early, opening with ‘Welcome to New York’, before going in to ‘New Romantics’ and then smash hit, ‘Blank Space’ all from 1989. The two hour show featured 17 of Swifty’s finest songs, with the singer joined on stage by 12 male dancers, four female backing singers and a five-piece band.
"Hello, I'm Taylor, and I love seeing a sold out Manchester Arena", called Taylor Swift as if the fifteen thousand people screeching from the stands didn't know who she was. For someone with seven Grammy Awards, Swift immediately came across as an incredibly humble performer. This could be one of the best things about her performance at Manchester Arena on Wednesday night - her vigorous determination and beaming smile showed that she wanted to be on stage as much as her fans did.
Attracting fans of all ages from across the world, Swift was met with a tremendous applause and insanely strong reaction from the crowd as she launched straight into 'Welcome to New York'. It set the scene well; we were all there for an evening with Swift in the magical musical world she had created. "There's something else you should know about me", she said after her first song. "I was born in 1989!"
Stories about heartbreak, believing in yourself and (surprise, surprise) heartbreak again were honest, and moving. Her joyous and bubbly personality was heightened by moments where she played the wrong note on the piano (and informed everyone) and laughed when one of her backing dancers made a funny face at her from behind a clear screen. These minor moments humanised her performance, reminding the audience that the superstar on stage was a real person, not just a manufactured pop robot.

The veteran singer-songwriter had been waiting nearly 50 years for a US Number One album.
Throughout his lengthy and prestigious career, singer-songwriter James Taylor has achieved many great things, but a US Number One album has always eluded him: until today! Taylor’s 47 year wait for a Billboard chart topping LP came to an end this week as it was announced that his new effort Before This World had outsold all rivals.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, Taylor’s 17th studio album sold 97,000 copies in its first week of release to debut atop the Billboard 200, with 96,000 of those coming through actual album sales (as opposed to streaming or track equivalents). His very first album, a self-titled effort, was released in December 1968 but only achieved a chart peak of Number 62 in the US.

Swift effected a change in Apple Music's policy with an open letter, but now a photographer has accused her of doing exactly the same thing to freelance photographers over image rights.
Earlier on Monday (June 22nd), the pop star made headlines after a letter she addressed to Apple Music caused a U-turn in its policy. Swift had claimed that the company’s stance on withholding payments to artists during a three month trial period was “not fair”, and had threatened to prevent Apple from streaming her current smash hit album 1989.
Sheldon effectively argued that this stance was hypocritical because she does not play fair over image rights. “If you don't like being exploited, that's great - make a huge statement about it, and you'll have my support,” he wrote. “But how about making sure you're not guilty of the very same tactic before you have a pop at someone else?”
The singer’s open letter has caused Apple to change its policy on artists’ royalties head of its three-month trail period.
When Taylor Swift speaks even Apple takes notice. Yes, following an open letter from the singer to Apple over the weekend the company has announced it will be paying royalties to artists during the three-month trial period of its new streaming service, Apple Music.
Taylor Swift has taken on Apple and won.
Eddy Cue, a senior executive at Apple Music made the announcement on Twitter, writing ‘Apple will always make sure that artist are paid. #AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period. We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple.’

The singer has explained why she’ll be holding back her album '1989' from Apple Music in a no holds barred open letter.
Taylor Swift has criticised Apple’s new streaming service ‘Apple Music’ in a lengthly open letter posted on the singer’s personal Tumblr page. In the letter Swift attacks Apple for its decision not to pay artists royalties during the three-month free trial of its new streaming service. It’s not the first time the singer has hit out against streaming companies as last year she famously pulled all of her music from Apple's rival Spotify.
Don’t expect to hear Taylor Swift’s 1989 on Apple Music anytime soon.
Swift begins the letter, titled ‘To Apple love Taylor’, by telling fans she wishes to explain why she’ll be holding back her million selling album, 1989, from Apple Music. “I’m sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free three month trial to anyone who signs up for the service,” Swift begins.

Her hardline stance on streaming will be extended to the brand new streaming service which launches on June 30th.
Taylor Swift is set to give a big snub to Apple Music when it launches officially at the end of the month, with reports emerging that the singer will not be making her current album 1989 available to the new streaming service.
Swift became the most prominent advocate of the non-Spotify model of music distribution at the end of the last year, when she removed her entire back catalogue from the streaming site just before the release of 1989. It didn’t seem to harm her sales – it has sold in excess of five million copies to date, making it the biggest selling album of 2014 and 2015 (so far).

The couple reportedly share a passion for Swift's music.
Taylor Swift has taken her role of love councillor to her fans to the next level and become a couple’s wedding mascot, sort of. We’re talking, of course, about Katy Harris and Chris Eisenman, the Philadelphia pair, who tied the knot in the parking lot of the Lincoln Financial Field, outside Taylor’s gig on Friday night.
Taylor Swift - romantic fairy godmother.
With the blazing 90 degree heat (that’s 32 Celcius for you Europeans), it must have been quite a challenge, but the couple were determined that this was to be their day and place. Apparently, they both have had a special relationship with Taylor’s work for some time.
Taylor Swift has shared an adorable snap with her rumoured beau Calvin Harris. The two enjoyed an afternoon in the pool alongside an inflatable swan.
Taylor Swift’s romance with Calvin Harris seems to be going well. The ‘Bad Blood’ singer posted a cute picture of the two enjoying a pool on none other than a giant inflatable swan. Swift was pictured sitting behind Harris, who was at the head of the swan, with her legs wrapped round his hips. She pointed triumphantly into the air whilst Harris shielded his eyes with one hand and gazed off into the distance. The two looked remarkably comfortable in each other’s company.

'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful' is Number 1 in the UK and the States at the same time, only the ninth album this decade to do so.
Florence Welch may be recovering from a broken foot, but she’s got even more good news to make her feel better, as the third Florence + The Machine album has entered the American charts at Number One, her first record to reach the summit in the States.
How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful sold 137,000 copies in its first week on sale to debut at the top spot in the Billboard 200 albums chart, according to Nielsen SoundScan. As a result, Florence is one of the few artists who have managed to top the American and British albums charts at the same time – the ninth act to do so in the 2010s and the first since Ed Sheeran’s X last year.
