AMERICAN IDOL star Taylor Hicks has shot to the top of the US charts to become the fourth winner of the TV talent show to debut at number one. Hicks' smash hit DO I MAKE YOU PROUD will officially be crowned America's number one tomorrow (22JUN06) after selling 190,000 singles and another 38,000 digital downloads, according to chart compilers Nielsen SoundScan. The grey-haired Alabama native becomes the first male Idol winner to top the Billboard chart with his first single. Hicks' triumph ends Shakira's reign at number one. Her HIPS DON'T LIE duet with Wyclef Jean has been on top of the charts for two weeks.
