Taryn Manning has blamed her hectic schedule for the bust-up with her assistant which landed her in court, insisting the two friends became embroiled in a cat fight after spending too much time together.
The 8 Mile star was detained by police at a hotel in New York last month (Oct12) following a late-night altercation with her 23-year-old assistant Holly Hartman.
She appeared at Manhattan Criminal court on Tuesday (13Nov12) to answer a charge of misdemeanour assault and was ordered to complete a day of community service and stay out of trouble for six months to have the accusation officially dropped.
Manning opened up about the case outside court, revealing the altercation was simply a bust-up between two stressed out friends.
The actress/singer told reporters, "I was on a press tour for my song (Send Me Your Love). Doing a lot of press outlets is draining. Two girls hanging out, sharing clothes is suffocating. We were suffocating each other... She's one of my dearest friends. It was a big learning lesson. We learned a lot."
An order of protection keeping Manning away from her assistant was lifted and the two women plan to "resume the friendship", according to the star's lawyer.
Manning will complete her community service over the coming weekend (17-18Nov12) by volunteering at a soup kitchen in California, where she is already a regular helper.
