Will Elton John take the money?
Big week for Elton John – the legendary singer offered Lady GaGa – a close friend of his – the chance to be godmother to his son, Elijah, and he was offered £1m to play at millionaire socialite Tamara Ecclestone’s wedding.
"She's a great role model, she's young, [and] she's been a great godmother to Zachary," John told Extra, as reported by Us Weekly regarding his choice of godmother. "We're all bonkers in this business, but we're human beings at the same time." Added his husband David Furnish: "You learn so much about yourself and about life by seeing children." He’s been less vocal about the alleged £1m offer to play Ecclestone’s wedding. Last night a spokesman for Sir Elton declined to comment on the offer. A source said: “At this point in time there is no agreement. Elton is looking at the dates, but at the moment he’s not sure they will work. No contract has been signed yet. For £1 million plus expenses he can do anything from an hour-and- a-half down to four songs and Happy Birthday. Often you don’t do these things with the whole band. It’s a young crowd, so they’ll want something different.”
Given Ecclestone’s reputation as a spoilt brat, intent on spending as much money as possible on lavish nights out, John might want to steer clear of any association with the socialite. Then again, money talks, and £1m is loads of money.

Tamara Ecclestone’s former boyfriend has been found guilty of blackmail, the BBC reports today (February 25, 2013). Derek Rose, 33 and Tamara, now 28 dated for two years when Eccleston was a teenager. Rose has been found guilty of trying to blackmail £200,000 from the daughter of Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, back in November 2011.
According to the report from BBC, Derek Rose tried to blackmail Tamara after she appeared in the TV reality show Billion Dollar Girl, which looked at her life as a wealthy youngster. Rose then sent an email to Tamara’s manager, Dana Malmstrom, claiming that he and Jakir Uddin, also accused, had been offered £200,000 from the press for a story about his ex-girlfriend. The ton of the email, reportedly was “you don’t really want that in the press whether it’s true or not,” the prosecutor William Boyce QC told the court. The jury also heard that Rose made £10,000 for selling his story to the press back in 2002, after his relationship with Miss Ecclestone had ended.
Tamara stated during the trial that she had merely wanted the defendant ‘warned’ and not necessarily arrested, for his actions. Both Derek Rose, of Arlington Road, Camden, North London and Jakir Uddin, of Old Walsall Road, Birmingham, have denied the charges of blackmail. The jury is yet to deliver a verdict on 20 year Uddin.
Lifestyles of the rich and famous, huh? Tamara Ecclestone managed to rack up a huge £30,676.25p bill at London's Aura nightclub. To put that into context, that's more than double what someone earning the national minimum wage would make in a year.
A lot more than double, actually, but hey, it's her money. She spent £13,020 on 28 bottles of Cristal champagne, £2,660 on two magnums of Cristal, £5,000 on one Jeroboam of Cristal and £5,740 on seven bottles of Cristal Rose, and included a hefty £4,001.25p tip. That's nothing for Tamara though, The daughter of billionaire Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone spent £1million on a crystal bathtub imported from the Amazonian rainforest after she bought a £47million mansion in the West End. Some of the photographers at the club were also treated by her decadence that night. One wrote on Facebook: "Long night, made better by Tamara Ecclestone handing out free bottles of Cristal champagne! Pretty tasty! Although not worth £450 a bottle!" according to The Mirror.
Of course, though, this doesn't have a happy ending, or at least it probably won't. Her spokesperson said: "It is a shame that a fun girls night out has ended in a situation that is now being dealt with by Tamara's lawyers." They've been called in because she isn't happy that the bill has been made public. But with that amount of money in the bank, one wonders how much sleep she'll lose over such a thing.
Last night, the Royal Premiere of the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first ever James Bond movie, so last night, the stars were out in force and the red carpet provided almost as much of a spectacle as the movie itself.
In the battle of the plunging necklines, Kelly Brook triumphed, despite fierce competition from Tamara Ecclestone. Kelly wore a glittering floor length dress; a classic design that would have looked fitting on any red carpet, for any Bond movie over the last half a century. She wore her loose and accessorised with a cream-coloured clutch bag and bold red lipstick, looking effortlessly glamorous. Ecclestone, meanwhile, stopped out in a daring, long – sleeved emerald green dress with subtle leopard print, with a neckline that sunk almost to her waistline. The result was certainly eye catching and may have had some people wondering which cost more... the dress, or the cleavage?
