Talking Heads rocker David Byrne and DJ NORMAN COOK are on the hunt for a talented Imelda Marcos lookalike to star in a stage musical about the former Filipino first lady.
The pair has collaborated on a new concept album, Here Lies Love, based on the life of the shoe-loving socialite, and now they want to take the project, which features guest performances from Martha Wainwright and Cyndi Lauper, to the stage.
Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, tells the BBC, "Each track is sung by a different singer and there's some very interesting guests on there.
"(Byrne's) been trying to get the stage show together, because the idea was that it would be the antithesis of Evita, but then we couldn't find our lead, so we didn't know who was going to sing it. I was trying to persuade David to sing it.
"It's a storytelling thing, like Evita, but coming from a different angle in that it tells the untold story that people didn't know about Imelda Marcos."
