The new faces don’t have roles in Marvel’s upcoming superhero comedy franchise builder, but they’re certainly impressive additions. T.I. and Floyd Mayweather had a pretty big bust-up at the weekend: a fight broke out after the boxer allegedly made some untoward comments about improper friendship between the boxer and the rapper's wife, Tameka "TIny" Cottle. Punches and chairs were reportedly thrown in the fight between the two celebs who were filmed brawling in a Vegas Fatburger.

In honour of the sheer scandal the incident has generated, we've rounded up a list of five other examples where rappers have battled with sports stars, indicating an almost cat-and-dog-like relationship between the two professionals.

ITunes Festival Sees Lady Gaga Play With Styles The Way Only She Can

Lady GaGa T.I

Lady GaGa’s appearance at London’s iTunes fesTIval has been long teased and long awaited, but the Applause singer went beyond any fan expectations, by premiering several new songs from ARTPOP at the festival. The hour-long gig at Roundhouse Theatre saw Gaga experiment with some new musical directions and, of course, in true Gaga fashion, some... well... outrageous fashion.

Lady Gaga, London
Then again, Gaga has never been known for her subtlety.

According to Rolling Stone, Gaga opened the gig in a cage, sporting a black leather mask a la Hannibal Lecter, but the most interesting part was the dubstep style drop of her opening track. It seems like everyone is doing something dubstep-esque these days, but this isn’t the only genre Lady Gaga is venturing into with ARTPOP. In a definite style departure for the singer, she came out with the rather direct title Jewels & Drugs.

Robin Thicke To Sue Marvin Gaye & Funkadelic Over 'Blurred Lines' Plagiarism Claims

Robin Thicke T.I Pharrell Williams Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke may have enjoyed having THE number one hit of the entire summer with 'Blurred Lines,' but the singer now is apparently locked in a legal battle over that very song following claims that it sounds very similar to two older tracks. Despite professing his love for Marvin Gaye and discussing the influence the singer has had on his career, this hasn't stopped Thicke and his 'Blurred Lines' collaborators T.I. and Pharrell Williams from taking Gaye's family to court following complaints that 'Blurred Lines' sounds strangely similar to Gaye's 'Got To Give It Up.'

Robin Thicke
Thicke may be a fan of Gaye and Funkadelic, but he also has a reputation to uphold

According to The Hollywod Reporter, who broke the story, the Gaye family had apparently threatened Thicke and co. with legal action over the similarities between his hit song and Marvin's 1977 track. A similar complaint had been made by the company Bridgeport Music, who represent the legendary funk band Funkadelic, with the company claiming that 'Blurred Lines' shares an uncanny resemblance to their track 'Sexy Ways.' Now both the Gaye Estate and Bridgeport Music will both legal action from Thicke, T.I. and Williams as the latter attempt to brush off any claims of plagiarism.

"Blurred Lines" Was Not Plagiarized Off Marvin Gaye, Claims Preemptive Complaint By Robin Thicke

Robin Thicke Pharrell Williams T.I Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams have made no qualms about the fact that their summer anthem Blurred Lines was heavily influenced by Marvin Gaye’s Got to Give It Up. So far, neither the Gaye family, nor Bridgeport Music Inc., have raised any official copyright claims based on the song, however Thicke, Williams and collaborator Clifford Harris Jr. (aka T.I.) have filed a preemptive complaint to protect themselves against future disputes.

In a preemptive strike, Thicke is taking the case to court himself.

According to the L.A. Times, the creative team has requested that the L.A. Court Judge verify that the song does not violate any copyright restrictions. The complaint states that representatives of the Gaye estate have threatened to sue Thicke and Williams, based on a perceived similarity between Blurred Lines and the Marvin Gaye songs Got to Give It Up and Sexy Ways. Thcke and co. have asked the court to declare that Blurred Lines does not infringe on copyrights just because of said similarity.

After The Smash Success Of Blurred Lines, Robin Thicke Gears Up For Next Record. Country Perhaps?

Robin Thicke Pharrell Williams T.I

There’s no argument that Robin Thicke has achieved highly unexpected success in 2013 and it seems like the singer doesn’t really know what to do with it. According to an interview with Billboard, Thicke would like to go in many different directions, now that he’s finally achieved the coveted mainstream success.

Thicke has suddenly found himself in the midst of unexpected success.

But despite the hitmakers on the album – Pharell Williams and T.I. are both heavyweights when it comes to chart toppers, not everyone was as convinced as Thicke of his record’s success. When asked whether he Blurred Lines sounded like a hit from the very beginning, the singer responded: “It did to me, and then I went into the record label and I played it for the heads of the label, head of pop radio ... and everybody just went, `Nice. Nice.' Got no response; was kind of surprised by that.”

After The Controversy, Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Album Is Finally Here

Robin Thicke Paula Patton T.I Pharrell Williams

Though the title track from Robin Thicke's latest album Blurred Lines was disparaged by critics for seemingly promoting sexual violence with its worrysome lyrics, the album was released today in the USA and is expected to hit No.1 as quickly as it did upon its 15th July release in the UK. The lead single from the album, 'Blurred Lines', which featured rapper T.I. and Pharrell Williams was released in March but ignited the fury of anti-sexual violence campaigners when the music video debuted.

The video depicts Thicke and the accompanying rap duo surrounded by scantily clad women who strut around waiting to be pawed at by the suited men. Thicke hit back at those who criticised him, insisting he was a man of faithfulness and respect towards women, having been with his now-wife Paula Patton since their high school days. However, branded as "rapey", the song sickened many who saw it as exploitative and objectifying women but the single, perhaps boosted by the swirling negative press, hit and held the top spot on the singles chart in 21 countries.

Amid Controversy, Robin Thicke Stands Up To Defend "Blurred Lines"

Robin Thicke Pharrell Williams T.I

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines and the accompanying video might have been getTIng a lot of flack for the “rape-y” lyrics and the objectification of women in the clip, but fret not, because Thicke himself has stepped up to defend his work. You have to admire the man for standing up to defend lyrics like “Nothin' like your last guy, he too square for you/He don't smack that ass and pull your hair for you” and, of course the ever charming “I'm a nice guy, but don't get confused, you gettin’ it” But at least Thick has a reasonable explanation for his questionable lyrics, right? Well, sort of.

“For me it’s about blurring the lines between men and women and how much we’re the same,” Thicke said in what sounds like a promising statement for Radio 1. “And then there’s the other side of it which is the blurred lines between a good girl and a bad girl, and even very good girls all have little bad sides to them.”

The censored version might have been deemed SFW, but it still has a lot of the same problems.

Rod Stewart, T.I. And Cee Lo Green To Hit The Voice In May

Rod Stewart Cee-Lo Green T.I

It’s not just wannabe talents performing on The Voice, you know, bona fide singers hit the stage too. Next up, in May, arrive Rod Steward, T.I and Cee Lo Green to show the contestants how it’s done. Lady Antebellum, Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams will also perform in May.

Green has been a part of The Voice for a while now, having coached on it for the first three seasons. He’s just finished his stint in the desert, performing in Loberace in Las Vegas, and will hit the crowd with Only You from his forthcoming new solo album Girl Power, set for a late 2013 release. Stewart and Green will perform on the May 8 episode, while Grammy-winning country-pop trio Lady Antebellum will promote their forthcoming album "Golden" on the May 14 episode. Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I. will all perform on the May 14 episode. Rod Stewart has been rumoured to judge on a number of talent shows, so his proximity to the show might fuel those rumours even more.

Stewart has been hanging out with teen pop starlet Harry Styles recently. Probably not through choice, though - the one direction star was getting close and friendly with his daughter, Kimberly Stewart, 33. The pair even spent the night together and Styles was seen buying coffee for all three of them the next morning.

Justin Timberlake To Team Up With TI Again For New Track

Justin Timberlake T.I

Justin Timberlake is well and truly back in the music scene and he's brought his old collab. partners with him too, first TImbaland and now rapper TI, who appeared on the hit track 'My Love' back when Justin was known for his music and beat-boxing rather than his acting.

With 'Suit & Tie' making huge waves online and on the radio since he made his triumphant return earlier this year, JT plans to go on as he started and is apparently almost finished with his long awaited third album The 20/20 Experience. According to TI, speaking to MTV, he and Justin have more than one track they worked together on that they are looking forward to unveiling to the eagerly awaiting public.

"I did a record for them at the end of last year. They were working on a record together, and I had the pleasure of assisting them on their particular record," the rapper said, before revealing the title to one of the songs. "I think it's called 'Goodbye Homey,' one of them is, and then there is another one; I did maybe two or three records with them."

Out Now: US Album Releases, Django Unchained OST Features Rick Ross, Chief Keef Banks On Hip-Hop Heavyweight Support, Eric Clapton's Slowhand Revisited

Eric Clapton T.I Chief Keef Rick Ross Wiz Khalifa 50 Cent Young Jeezy Quentin Tarantino Jamie Foxx John Legend Frank Ocean Ennio Morricone

A mixed week for US albums releases; old classics given an airing, a major movie soundtrack launched and hip-hop arTIsts new and old having a stab at chart success. Currently, the top of the US album chart is dominated by Taylor Swift, who’s back at the top with Red, Wiz Khalifa, riding high at number two with O.N.F.C. and Rod Stewart’s festive compilation album, Merry Christmas, Baby.

Eric Clapton’s Slowhand gets a 35th anniversary reissue, having been remastered from the original “1/4 tape. There are four album session outtakes, entitled ‘Looking at the Rain,’ ‘Alberta,’ ‘Greyhound Bus,’ and ‘Stars, Strays and Ashtrays.’ A second disc contains a live performance at London’s Hammersmith Odeon, from April 27, 1977.

One for the completists, then – and more a case of Clapton’s record label rubbing their hands in glee at a cash in, than any real significant moment in his career. The re-release of Slowhand has hardly set the music press alight and we probably don’t need to fetch any fire blankets for the albums chart, either.

Andre 3000 Definitely Has No Debut Solo Project In The Making

Andre 3000 Outkast Big Boi Beyonce Knowles B.o.B T.I

Andre 3000 has no plans to release a solo album despite former Outkast buddy Big Boi working on his own new project.

The former duo member admits he has toyed with several music ideas but isn't dead set on releasing a solo debut any time soon. 'Things are kind of up in the air with me, and some days, I feel like yeah, I'll do it. Some days, I feel like, I don't', he told RollingStone.com. 'I record and I write ideas. I think I'll always do that... But I don't know if it will go to another artist or will it be my stuff or will it go to some movie? I don't know.' Three Stacks seems to have been happy to take a backseat in the music world in recent years, occasionally making guest appearances on other artists' tracks such as 'Party' by Beyonce, B.o.B's 'Play the Guitar' and, more recently, T.I.'s 'Sorry'. 'My whole motivation is, I don't want to mess these people's songs up, more than anything than let me do something great', he said on the subject.

His OutKast partner Big Boi, however, is now promoting his new solo album 'Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors' but admits that Andre hasn't made a guest appearance on that project despite rumours, joking that he's too busy shooting commercials for Gillette hair trimmers. 3K wasn't even aware that there were rumors of a reunion. 'I don't read the Internet. I've never had a Twitter, I've never had a Facebook', he insisted. 'None of that kind of stuff, because it makes me mad to read it sometimes. I just don't. I don't hear all the rumors.'
