Sylvester Stallone's boxing gloves have been pulled from a high-profile auction amid questions of authenticity.
The actor's lawyer, Marty Singer, filed a cease and desist order on Tuesday (12Apr11) against bosses at auction house Profiles in History, accusing them of selling fraudulent memorabilia said to be worn by the Rocky star.
In a legal document, obtained by Tmz.com, Singer writes, "Be advised that these items are not Sylvester Stallone's boxing gloves from the first Rocky and they are not authentic. We therefore demand that you immediately cease and desist from marketing and promoting them as genuine."
The auctioneers have since agreed to take the iconic item off the auction block pending further investigation.
Stallone's boxing gloves were among a variety of Hollywood memorabilia items set to go under the hammer at a Los Angeles auction in May (11).
