The trailer for Escape Plan shows the two action men in their favorite genre.
The ultimate 80s action men – Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone – are teaming up again, for Escape Plan. The two actors have worked together before, on The Expendabes and its creatively titled sequel, The Expendables 2, which was surprisingly appreciated both by critics and movie-goers alike. The newly released trailer for Escape Plan sees them once again doing what they do best, which is some good, ol’ fashioned... well, you know.

This time the setup is more complicated though. Stallone plays Ray Breslin, a convict, who is has an uncanny ability to break out of any prison. Breslin’s skills don’t go unnoticed by the government and soon he’s on their payroll, hired to break out of and hense identify security flaws in The Tomb – a brand new, intricate high security prison, for people the government wants “buried”. What comes next isn’t much of a surprise – it all turns out to be a setup and Breslin finds himself locked up with no means of escape this time. Except for his one ally – the mysterious Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger), who teams up with the protagonist to create the ultimate escape plot.
Never too old for a breakout.
Ok, so it wouldn’t be an undeestimation to say that neither Stallone, nor Schwarzenegger have been at the top of their game lately. The announcement by Paramount that production on Terminator 5 was underway prompted more eyerolls than anything else. But the premise of Escape Plan sounds, if not the most original, at least really, very watchable. Plus, the acting in the trailer seems really good. Even 50 Cent’s prison expert/ bespectacled smart dude (the trailer doesn’t exactly make it clear) is pretty believable. The film hits theatres October 18, so that should give you plenty of time to recuperate after summer blockbuster season and get ready for the next action flick.
Or to just generally break things.
