Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle initially felt uneasy with the musical based on her life, as she found it "upsetting" watching her rags-to-riches story played out onstage.

The touring production, I Dreamed A Dream, tells the story of Boyle's overnight rise to fame after appearing on Britain's Got Talent in 2009.

The show has been a huge hit with audiences in the U.K., but Boyle admits it was alarming to see actress Elaine C. Smith portraying her.

Boyle explains, "It's funny when you see people playing people who you knew. It's very surreal.

"To begin with it was upsetting because I was not used to it. Once I got into it though, it was quite clever and amusing. It was dead funny seeing Elaine pulling on the wig. I went, 'Oh my God, what's this?'"

Boyle, who has made several cameo appearances in the play, reveals producers want to take I Dreamed A Dream to Australia next, adding, "I've been invited to go along but I don't know when."
