MORGAN FREEMAN (William Cabot) has established himself as one of Americas most admired actors by audiences, critics and fellow artists alike. His breakthrough performance in Street Smart, in 1987, earned him the first of three Academy Award nominations. He was nominated for Best Actor in director Frank Darabonts adaptation of Stephen Kings The Shawshank Redemption and in the multiple Oscar-winning Driving Miss Daisy, the latter of which also garnered him a Golden Globe. Freemans diverse career spans more than 30 years, and reflects a constant mix of theatrical film roles, stage work, television specials and narration (The Long Way Home).
Among his feature films, he has starred in Along Came a Spider, Nurse Betty, Deep Impact, Hard Rain, Amistad, Kiss the Girls, Chain Reaction, Outbreak, Seven, Unforgiven, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Glory and Lean on Me. Last year, he starred in Under Suspicion, the first feature film release from his production company, Revelations Entertainment. He most recently was seen in High Crimes. Freeman made his film directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Bopha! for Paramount Pictures.
On stage, Freemans performances in Driving Miss Daisy, Coriolanus and Gospel at Colonus all earned him Obie Awards, and his work in Mighty Gents brought him a Tony Award nomination. In 1991, he teamed with Tracey Ullman for a stage production of The Taming of the Shrew.
Early television work included the role of Easy Reader on PBS The Electric Company.
