Under The Dome On Top Of The Ratings
The premiere of the Stephen King/Steven Spielberg sci-fi drama Under the Dome crushed the competition last week as it attracted 13.53 million viewers, according to Nielsen results for the week. It was the only show to attract more than 10 million viewers except for the Tuesday edition of NBC's America's Got Talent, which drew 10.23 million. Among 18-49 viewers, Under the Dome also ranked No. 1, tied with NBC's coverage of the final game of the Stanley Cup hockey contest. America's Got Talent finished third. Among the nightly newscasts, it would appear from the ratings that most viewers greeted the Supreme Court's decision on gay marriage with a collective shrug. NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams wound up with an average of 7.5 million viewers for the week. (It should be noted, however, that it did not air on Monday, the day of the decision, because of the Stanley Cup Finals.) ABC World News with Diane Sawyer was also down slightly from the previous week with 6.7 million viewers, while the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley was up slightly with 6.1 million viewers. Nevertheless, despite airing mostly reruns, CBS was the most-watched network for the week with an average 3.8 rating and a 7 share. NBC finished second with a 3.1/6. ABC followed with a 2.5/4, while Fox trailed with a 2.0/4.
