Tyra Banks - Tyra Banks Championing Young Model With Vitiligo
Retired catwalk queen Tyra Banks is championing a young model with skin disease vitiligo.
The stunner encouraged Chantelle Brown-Young to sign up for her America's Next Top Model Tv show and now she's promoting the upcoming season with the African-American beauty, who is suffering from the skin pigment condition.
Banks explains, "I'm obsessed with my social media... and I just kept seeing these beautiful pictures of this girl... and I reached out to my Top Model team and I said, 'Find her and put her in front in me in the next couple of weeks'.
The Canadian model admits she posted all her work online in the hope that someone like Banks would spot it and give her a career boost.
The former Victoria's Secret stunner adds, "I get bored with cookie cutter beauty and I think in my career I have to thank people in Paris and Italy for looking a girl that had a big forehead and big eyes and a pointy chin... When I was young I was kind of alien-esque and for them to accept me and to put me on covers for the first time, as a black girl, it made me appreciate things that are out of the box.
"When I see somebody like Chantelle I'm like, 'This is beautiful, this is unique, the world needs to see that'."
Brown-Young was four when she was first diagnosed with vitiligo; she had to leave high school because she couldn't handle the bullying surrounding her look.
