Ray Davies - The Kinks 50th Anniversary Reunion Might Not Feature Dave Davies
Ray Davies' planned The Kinks 50th anniversary reunion may well go ahead without his former bandmate and brother Dave.
The feuding siblings met recently to discuss a get together with Mick Avory, and frontman Ray has confirmed he is working on new material with the drummer, but so far Dave isn't on board.
In a new interview with Britain's Mojo magazine, Ray says, "Dave's invited to the party, but if he doesn't want to do it (reunion), it will happen anyway. He's very welcome to turn up if he wants. I'd much rather work with him than without him."
He adds, "If somebody can't or won't play, there are other players out there. Mick and I want to do it."
Ray's latest remarks are a little confusing for fans of The Kinks as his brother recently told Uncut magazine he was the one championing a reunion.
He said, "I said to Ray I thought that it'd be a great shame if we don't try and do something. I don't think our love has diminished. I think the stage play has played itself out a bit, the pretense and the acting. I think it's time reality took over, and started directing the last years of... whatever it is. It's like (Biblical brothers) Cain and Abel."
