The Jonas Brothers - The Jonas Brothers: 'Split Was A Long Time Coming'

The Jonas Brothers have opened up about their split, revealing long-standing issues over creative differences led to the group parting ways.

The three brothers announced on Tuesday (29Oct13) they are breaking up after scrapping their tour earlier in the month (Oct13), and now they have told how the end was inevitable.

Kevin tells Good Morning America on Wednesday (30Oct13), "I think it was time and for us it took some time to get there, but for us we feel like The Jonas Brothers comes to an end."

Nick Jonas adds, "I was actually the one that initiated the conversation. We're family first, that's always been our main priority, so honesty within that, within what we do as a group is really important. So I came to the table with the guys, just before we were prepping to leave for our tour and I shared my heart with them, my feelings.

"I think in a nutshell I said, 'Look I feel like we've had some complications in the group for a long time, without addressing them. I think this train will fall off the tracks without really getting real with some of the concerns and some of the limitations that we may feel as individuals in the group.' It was a tough conversation... it was the first time we really had that real conversation..., but now we've all come to a place after a lot of time thinking about it and talking about it together, where we feel like we are best suited to do our own individual things... and choose to be brothers first."

The sibling band's fifth studio album will not be released, but they have a special gift for their loyal fans.

Kevin adds, "The album will actually not be completed, but we will be doing something for our fans. They have travelled with us and been with us for so many years, we just didn't want to leave without giving them something back.

"So what we've done is we're going to release four of the unreleased songs from the album. The rest of the album will never be released and we also have gone back in the studio and finished recording the live... tracks from the last summer tour... So we'll be actually giving that to our fan club members as a gift just from us."

The brothers have not ruled out a reunion but insist they are focusing on their individual passions for the foreseeable future.

Nick explains, "I think it's impossible to say forever with anything, but I feel like we're playing it one step at a time right now and like we said, rebuilding as brothers first and starting there."

Nick, Kevin and Joe were signed as a trio by Columbia Records in 2005 and found fame with Disney movie Camp Rock in 2008, going on to win the Breakthrough Artist award at the American Music Awards the same year.
