Robby Krieger - The Doors Stars Robby Krieger & John Densmore To Host Documentary Screening
Longtime estranged former bandmates Robby Krieger and John Densmore are teaming up to host a screening of acclaimed The Doors documentary Mr. Mojo Risin': The Story of L.A. Woman.
The duo, which fell out a decade ago when Densmore sued Krieger and the late Ray Manzarek over their plans to tour as The Doors of the 21st Century, only recently reconciled - and they are currently planning a concert tribute for Manzarek, who died earlier this year (13).
But fans won't have to wait until 2014 to see the pair of rock legends on the same stage - they will front a New York Times Film Club screening next month (05Dec13) at the Bing Theater in Los Angeles.
The 2012 documentary, Mr. Mojo Risin': The Story of L.A. Woman, chronicles the recording of the band's sixth album.
The event falls just three days before what would have been late frontman Jim Morrison's 70th birthday.
Krieger and Densmore, who will chat about the album recording at the event, are still putting the finishing touches to their Manzarek tribute gig, which will be staged in February (14) on the late keyboard player's birthday.
Krieger recently told Ultimate Classic Rock, "It's going to be February 12th. I'm not sure where yet, but probably somewhere in L.A. February 12th is Ray's birthday, so that's what we're shooting for. We're talking with Live Nation, and we want to get some great guys to play. I want to get some great keyboard guys, some people that Ray looked up to - Keith Jarrett maybe or Herbie Hancock - some guys like that.
"Hopefully we'll be successful in getting something like that together, and that would be the first time that John and I would have played (together) for a long time."
