Giuseppe Tornatore - The Best Offer Dominates Nastri D'argento Awards

Acclaimed director Giuseppe Tornatore's latest movie The Best Offer was the toast of Italy's 67th Nastri d'Argento (Silver Ribbon) awards after landing six honours.

The movie, which stars Geoffrey Rush as an eccentric auctioneer who becomes obsessed with a reclusive heiress, claimed the Best Film prize, while composer Ennio Morricone picked up the Best Score award for the film's soundtrack.

Actress Valeria Golino's directorial debut Miele was also among the winners at the ceremony on Saturday (06Jul13), along with Matteo Garone's reality TV-based drama Reality and Paolo Sorrentino's La grande bellezza (The Great Beauty).

Bernardo Bertolucci's Io e Te (You and I) was previously announced as Film of the Year, while veteran Italian actor Toni Servillo picked up an award in celebration of his lengthy career.

The awards, which are voted for by Italy's National Syndicate of Journalists, were handed out at Taormina's Teatro Antico venue, the site of Sicily's Taromina Film Festival.
