Singer/rapper Teyana Taylor has fired back at reports suggesting an Independence Day party she hosted in New York on Thursday (04Jul13) ended with gunfire blasts, insisting "nothing was shot up".

The rising hip-hop star, who is signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label, invited friends, family and fans to celebrate the American holiday at Morningside Park in her native Harlem, but sources tell the New York Post the barbecue bash quickly became an unruly scene.

According to the publication, police were called to control the crowds and a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody for shooting a gun into the air. One officer was also said to have sustained a shoulder injury in the midst of the drama.

However, Taylor took to her Twitter.com blog on Sunday (07Jul13) to blast the Post and dispute the story, and she is adamant the gunfire mentioned was in fact the sound of fireworks.

In a series of angry tweets, she wrote, "NY Post better get outta here wit (with) that dumb a** story. Nothing was shot up. It was 4th of July fire works will go off.

"Crazy how police & fire department Could Not confirm anything that the Ny Post said Wanna know why? Cause the s**t ain't (sic) true. Organization doesn't make a good story rite (sic)??? Lol (laugh out loud) they (sic) mad my cookout was so orderly. Why not add drama to sell a good story?"

She has also expressed her gratitude to her guests, adding: "Well with getting that off my chest i want to thank the 3500 people that came out! Everyone was well behaved & having a great time!"
