Swedish House Mafia - Swedish House Mafia Documentary To Debut At South By Southwest

Swedish House Mafia's documentary about their goodbye tour will have its debut at the upcoming South by Southwest Festival in Texas.

Nearly a year after their final concert last March (13), the hugely successful Dj trio is preparing to close the final chapter of its career with the new film, Leave The World Behind.

The documentary features Shm producers Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso as they travel the world for a final time on their sell-out One Last Tour trek, and it gives insight as to why they decided to split in 2012 after five years together.

Leave The World Behind will have its world premiere at the acclaimed music and film festival in Austin on 12 March (14), and will have special advance previews in select cities in the days following the premiere, including screenings in New York, Los Angeles and London.

Swedish House Mafia Confirmed For World Premiere At Sxsw Film Festival In March 2014 4017359 Press Releases

The seminal Austin-Texas based South By South West (SXSW) Festival has today announced that the forthcoming motion picture release 'Leave The World Behind', a movie starring Swedish House Mafia, directed by Christian Larson and executively produced by Jonas Akerlund, is to be one of the official selection films at this year's  film festival.

A music documentary following the break-up of Swedish House Mafia, and their subsequent One Last Tour, the largest electronic tour in history, selling over 1 000 000 tickets globally in one week.  Director Christian Larson captures the band in a unique fly on the wall manner as they decide to call it quits and seek closure by finally going on the tour they had always dreamed of.

With breath-taking live moments, huge laughs and dark lows, the band start to unravel why they came to the decision to end the biggest achievement of their lives to date to save their friendship. As the tour finale edges closer and closer, the debate of why it's all happening becomes more intense.

Sebastian Ingrosso Distances Himself From New Britney Spears Track 3864809 News

Former Swedish House Mafia star Sebastian Ingrosso has distanced himself from Britney Spears' new track after she named him as a songwriter.

The Toxic hitmaker took to her Twitter.com page on Wednesday (11Sep13) to drum up excitement for her next single Work Bitch by posting a photo of her lyric sheet, along with a list of the songwriters, including rapper will.i.am and Spears herself.

Ingrosso's name was included in the shot but the Swedish Dj insists he wasn't involved in making the track, telling Billboard.com, "I don't really know why they put my name in there. It's a really good song and I'm looking forward to what's going to happen with it. But I can't really take credit for it."

The producer has put the mix-up down to an error, admitting he gave the Black Eyed Peas frontman a beat that was actually created by an artist he manages called Otto Knows.

He explains, "I'm good friends with will.i.am. He called me up and said, 'I'm doing Britney's new album, do you have any beats for me to write on?' We have a good connection. You never know. I don't care if it's Britney Spears or if it's Led Zeppelin. I love music."

Spears will release the track on Tuesday (17Sep13).

Highest Paid DJs Ranked By Forbes Make Six Figures Per Appearance 3819742 News

House, dubstep, drum and bass – electronic music in various forms is thriving at the moment, as Forbes’ list of the world’s highest paid DJ’s goes to show. The chart was topped by Scottish-born DJ Calvin Harris, who earned $46 million in the past year, thanks to high profile collaborations and six-figure nightly fees.

Calvin Harris, Radio 1's Big Weekend
Harris, who prefers a low-key lifestyle most of the time, has played venues in Vegas, Ibiza and around the world.

“The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years,” he tells FORBES. “I happened to be in the right place at the right time.” Maybe chance had something to do with it, but Harris’s talent and business savvy meant that in the past year, he played over 100 shows, with nightly fees upwards of $200 000. It was his collaborations with the likes of Rihanna and LMFAO, however, which boosted him to the top of the Forbes chart. Harris is followed closely on the Electronic Cash Kings list by Dutchman Tijs Verwest, better known by his stage name Tiesto. In 2012 and 2013, the DJ earned close to $32 million. Like Harris, the DJ attributes his success to the rise in popularity of various electronic music genres. For Forbes, Verwest commented: “In America, dance music is booming. At the moment … it’s the most exciting genre.”

Tiesto, Motorola Music Lounge
Tiesto came in second with a respectable $32 million.

Other huge names on the electronic music scene, some of whom have only risen to prominence in the past year or two, include Frenchmad David Guetta with $30 million and Swedish House Mafia in fourth place with $25 million. The house supergroup broke up in March of this year, but their earnings until that point were enough to earn them a spot on the chart. Deadmau5 and his mouse helmet round out the top 5 with earnings of $21 million. The full list is available on the Forbes website.

Skrillex, Wreck-It-Ralph Premiere
House sensation Skrillex narrowly missed the Top 5.

After thrilling club-land for 2 decades with legendary events, award winning albums and dance-floor domination, Gatecrasher really has something to celebrate in 2013. And to commemorate 20 years, Gatecrasher is proud to announce its 20th anniversary album Gatecrasher 20 - Past Present Forever.

Driven by its upfront vision, Gatecrasher has propelled dance-music into the hearts of millions.  Now, over three storming CDs and accompanying digital version, comes 53 defining Gatecrasher moments and 3 mixes, featuring classic and future anthems from  Tiesto, Sasha, Art Of Trance, Chicane, Faithless, David Guetta, Avicii, Nickey Romero, Swedish House Mafia, Paul Oakenfold, Chuckie, Calvin Harris and much more.

GC 20 encapsulates a sonic soundscape of 20 years of Gatecrasher and is an explosive, euphoric, hands in the air journey from the laser-imprinted anthems of the early 90s to current club bangers and future hits from the biggest names in EDM. A sonic-soundscape of clubbing history immortalised forever.

Gatecrasher 20 - Past Present Forever delivers a true reflection and comprehensive retrospective of 20 years of dance music from a club brand that inspired a generation;

'Past' takes clubbers back to the beginning where it all began and invokes euphoric memories of trance's golden era with classic trance tracks from across the 90s. Tracks include Robert Miles swooping and atmospheric Children, evocative, seminal trance classic Age of Love by Age of Love,  Chicane's emotive Saltwater,  Sasha's progressive masterpiece Xpander,  Binary Finary's legendary floor killer 1998 , exhilarating techno stormer We Come One by Faithless  and Energy 52's impassioned and dramatic, hands-in-the-air classic Café Del Mar.

'Present' brings listeners right up to date with the biggest names in EDM today. These are tracks from the biggest-hitters in clubland and from DJs who currently grace the decks of Gatecrasher's flag-ship super-club in Birmingham. Stand-out tracks include dance-floor anthem Sweet Nothing an entrancing collaboration between Calvin Harris and Florence Welch, infectious progressive piano house fuelled Sunshine by David Guetta & Avicii, Swedish House Mafia's emotive Don't You Worry Child,  the hard-hitting How We Do from Hardwell & Showtek, Pryda's dramatic Power Drive,  the driving trance sounds of D# Fat from the world's no.1 ranked DJ Armin Van Buuren and the massive number 1 - I Could Be The One from Avicii & Nicky Romero. Compilation exclusives include the long awaited Third Party remix of Red Hot Chili Peppers - Otherside and the huge Paul Oakenfold mix of the number 1 record Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven plus the rare Coldplay - Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Swedish House Mafia Mix) featured on Swedish House Mafia's Until Now album.

'Forever' takes a look to the future with what will be some of the biggest tracks of the summer.  Tracks include Tiesto's  fierce Miami inspired  Chasing Summer  ,  the massive club banger Down to This from Dirty Dutch extraordinaire Chuckie, Dannic's synth driven progressive house hit Viper and Hardwell's remix of Alive from Krewella - a full on progressive house anthem with some electro edge ready to set off the summer festival circuit worldwide.

From humble beginnings to a world-conquering global club brand, Gatecrasher has continued to push boundaries and dominate dance music since 1993. Its reputation as a flamboyant, individual and hedonistic brand continues to grow and the Gatecrasher name continues to be emblazoned in the heart and soul of clubbers throughout the world.

The Gatecrasher lion has always sat proudly at the forefront of clubland, responsible of some of the most awe-inspiring, never-to-be-forgotten events, albums and club-nights. Continuing in its passionate quest to break musical and production boundaries, Gatecrasher prepares to ignite clubland yet again with its 20th Birthday plans.

Gatecrasher 20 - Past Present Forever provides the perfect opportunity to look back to the club's heritage as the brand further evolves and broadens its musical spectrum. International club-brand Gatecrasher celebrates 20 momentous years at the top.

Gatecrasher 20 - Past Present Forever delivers a true reflection and comprehensive retrospective of 20 years of dance music from a club brand that inspired a generation;

Myspace Music App: Justin Timberlake's Latest Rescue Attempt 3718059 News

A conglomerate led by pop-singer Justin Timberlake announced yesterday the social networking site Myspace will be releasing a new music app available on Android and Apple.

This is the latest attempt by the site to regain users, lost as a result of the rise of Facebook. The failing company, previously owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, was bought by a group of investors led by Timberlake for $35 million in 2011.

The site's re-launch has been targeted at music lovers. This announcement is the latest in a series of features which allow artists and fans to communicate more effectively. According to Timberlake, this was a key feature in his decision to invest in Myspace.

The app will allow users, when visiting an artist's page, to hear their music. This is a further development on Myspace social radio stations where music is presented and chosen by Timberlake and other artists such as Pharell Williams.

The website's look and content has been drastically re-developed. A number of artists have been supportive of Timberlake's efforts. In an interview with Spinner, Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello said 'I was a super big fan when I saw the new one [Myspace design]'.

However, it has been suggested that with so many problems in Myspace's past, including a number of takeovers within the last five years it remains to be seen if they can contend with the likes of Spotify and Facebook.

What do you think - does Myspace have a chance to regain its position at the head of social media?

Highlights From The Ultra Music Festival 2013! Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Fatboy Slim And More (Photos) 3576597 News

America's favourite EDM fest The Ultra Music Festival have rounded off their last weekend with an impressive line-up.

We expected nothing less than exhilarating, flawless electronic finery from Ultra's uber exciting 2013 2-weekend line-up and neither weekend's artists held back at all as they hit Miami's Bayfront Park full of enthusiasm. Weekend 2's line-up saw a sting of disc jockey legends including double Grammy winner David Guetta, DJ royalty Fatboy Slim, the more recent chart sensation deadmau5 and the Gold-selling Calvin Harris. Other attendees included Afrojack, who recently remixed Psy's YouTube hit 'Gangnam Style', Dutch sensation Armin van Buuren, Italian DJ Benni Benassi and out latest electronic music heroes Zeds Dead. Snoop Lion (aka Snoop Dogg) became the highlight of weekend 1, however, and he probably felt right at home having collaborated with many artists on the bill.

Swedish House Mafia sadly made their final appearance as an outfit at the festival, officially breaking up this week. It all seems to be an amicable decision though as they've even revealed to Rolling Stone that they might work together in the future under a different name. 'It's an experiment to ourselves', Sebastian Ingrosso informed the publication. On a happier note, the prospect of Ultra's 2014 15th Anniversary looks to make next year even more memorable.

This decade, for even the most casual music fan opening up iTunes or browsing the most-viewed videos on YouTube, one name has become synonymous and inexorably intertwined with dance music in America: Ultra. Patrick Moxey's Ultra Music is the #1 independent EDM label worldwide. Since the mid-1990's, the independently owned, New York-based dance label has marketed and promoted EDM music to the masses. In embracing the growing importance of the internet as the dominant means of discovering music, Ultra Music beat the major labels to the front lines of what is now a lifestyle movement gone mainstream.  Ultra Music, via its visionary founder and CEO Patrick Moxey, has proven a key factor in the rise of EDM in America as it's known today to tens of millions of rabid fans worldwide.  Today, Ultra Music, based in Manhattan, boasts 33 full-time employees and offices in Europe and Canada, as well as a new Los Angeles outpost.

Since 1996, Ultra Music has built up a formidable roster of some of the biggest names in dance music from around the world. deadmau5, Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Ferry Corsten, Wolfgang Gartner, Roger Sanchez, Above & Beyond, Calvin Harris, Tommie Sunshine, Benny Benassi and Bloody Beetroots are just some of the names the label has signed over the past decade and all are still on the current roster.  In addition to the label, the Ultra Music YouTube page is the eighth most-viewed channel with more than 2,000,000,000 views.

About Ultra Music Festival:

As the world's most famous outdoor electronic music festival, Ultra has won "Best Music Event" by the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) six consecutive years, from 2005 to 2011, "Best International Dance Music Festival" by the Ibiza DJ Awards in 2008 and "Best Festival" by the Village Voice Media New Times consecutively five years running from 2005 through 2009.  Originally created as a pure EDM (electronic dance music) festival in 1999, Ultra has grown through the years to present not only the genre's hottest, biggest and best headline artists (The Prodigy, Swedish House Mafia, The Chemical Brothers, Tiësto, David Guetta, deadmau5, Underworld, Kraftwerk, Armin van Buuren, Moby, Fatboy Slim, Justice, Carl Cox and Avicii to name a few), but also crossover headline bands that incorporate EDM elements in their music and have a history or new beginning in the EDM community and culture (The Cure, The Killers, New Order, Duran Duran, The Black Eyed Peas, Erasure, M83, Santigold, The Ting Tings, Cut Copy, Empire of the Sun and Bloc Party). In 2012, global pop icon Madonna appeared as a special surprise guest-the festival's gift to their fans-to introduce the main stage final headlining artist AVICII, joining him behind the decks to premiere his UMF remix of her new single "Girl Gone Wild."  The year also was the subject of CAN U FEEL IT, a major documentary feature about the festival, which was shown in over 500 theatres nation-wide.  Together with its signature, cutting-edge productions, Ultra is unrivalled by consistently presenting the world's greatest, most diverse EDM line-ups year after year.

In 2013, as it celebrates its 15 year anniversary, Ultra will become the first major EDM festival in the world to expand to two weekends with dates set for March 15, 16 and 17 and March 22, 23 and 24.
