Stewart Copeland - Stewart Copeland And Andy Summers To Reunite For Amnesty Film Launch

Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers are set to reteam for a mini-The Police reunion in Santa Monica, California on Sunday (03Nov13) to launch the release of a new Dvd box set featuring the band's historic 1986 get together for Amnesty International.

The group ended a two-year hiatus to perform three concerts on the human rights organisation's tour of America and footage from those shows, and frontman Sting's subsequent Amnesty gigs, feature on the 12-hour, six-Dvd set, Released! The Human Rights Concerts 1986-1998.

The concert movies have been edited for a 90-minute highlight film, which Dvd producer Martin Lewis will air at the American Cinematheque on Sunday - and Copeland and Summers will speak at the launch.

The rockers' former bandmate Sting will also be in Los Angeles this weekend to perform at a tribute to filmmaker Martin Scorsese on Saturday night (02Nov13), but he is not expected to join Copeland and Summers at the Released! launch.

The Police split for the last time following a global reunion tour in 2007 and 2008.

Among those attending the world premiere of the Dvd box set release on behalf of Amnesty International Usa will be executive director Steven Hawkins and Ann Burroughs, who was imprisoned for her work against apartheid in her native South Africa in the 1980s. She was the subject of a successful Amnesty campaign to get her released.
