Steven Soderbergh - Steven Soderbergh To Direct Chloe Moretz's New York Stage Debut
Moviemaker Steven Soderbergh has put his retirement plans on hold once again to direct actress Chloe Grace Moretz in a new off-Broadway play.
The revered filmmaker insisted Tv movie Behind the Candelabra would be his final job as a director after announcing plans to step away from Hollywood and spend more time painting, but it appears a new drama written by his Side Effects screenwriter has lured him back.
The Library will premiere in the spring (Mar14) at New York's Public Theater, and will run until 27 April (14).
The play focuses on gun violence and Burns tells The Hollywood Reporter, "I wanted to write a play about the stories we tell each other in the face of calamity - the pretty lies and the brutal truths. This is something Steven and I have discussed over the last decade while making movies. What is the value of truth? What is the cost of a lie?"
Moretz, who will make her New York stage debut in the play as a survivor of a high school shooting incident, took to Twitter.com on Thursday to confirm the news, writing, "so excited to finally share with everyone what's been most exciting in my life!"
The play will also mark Soderbergh's New York theatre debut.
