Spike Lee Film Gets Funded Via Kickstarter

Spike Lee's plan to raise $1.25 million via Kickstarter to make a forthcoming film reached its goal on Saturday and has now found 5,000 backers who have put up a total of $1,325,481. $10,000 of that amount came from fellow director Steven Soderbergh. Lee's success follows those of the producers of a Veronica Mars feature, who raised $5.7 million via Kickstarter and Zach Braff's project to produce a sequel to Golden State, which attracted $3.1 million. Lee has given little indication about the plot of his film or its actors (except to say the British actress Zaraah Abrahams has been cast as the female lead, saing only that it will be a bloody, funny, sexy movie about humans addicted to blood.
