Sinead O'connor - Sinead O'connor: 'Female Pop Stars Have Been Hoodwinked'
Singer Sinead O'connor has warned young female pop stars they have been "hoodwinked" into flashing the flesh to sell records.
The Nothing Compares 2 U hitmaker is adamant the world's top women singers, including Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus, are victims of a record industry conspiracy to get them to shed their clothes.
She has branded the tactic "bulls**t" and fears it is destroying the talent of many young acts, as well as sending out the wrong message to child fans.
O'Connor tells rock magazine Q, "It's hilarious and cleverly done, they're made to think if you get your t**s out, you're a maverick. Bulls**t, obviously. I think people's reasons for making music have changed. It used to be people wanted to make music because we're all f**ked up and degenerate and maniacs and there was no other way of expressing ourselves. Now, they don't even care about the music, it's about how they look, and fame.
"Female musicians have been hoodwinked. All they're doing is looking at their t**s. Their audiences are children and those children are being raised to believe their value is in the size of their t**s and how pretty they are and how many guys want them."
