Simon Cowell - Simon Cowell won't attend X Factor musical launch
Simon Cowell will miss the launch of his new 'X Factor' musical as it coincides with pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman's due date.
Simon Cowell will miss the launch of his 'X Factor' musical to be at the side of his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
The music mogul - who is expecting his first child with New York socialite Lauren on February 28 - will be forced to forego his appearance at the launch of 'I Can't Sing: The X Factor Musical' which opens at London's Palladium the day before.
Simon, 54 - who worked alongside comedian Harry Hill to produce the musical - is under strict instructions to shun the show's debut in order to be present at the birth.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''Lauren would probably have him hung, drawn and quartered if he missed the birth.''
Although rehearsals for the show are set to start next week the script will remain unfinished until after the birth as it is set to include the baby's name.
The source said: ''The entire show is written but one of the penultimate scenes, parodying Simon and Lauren's little arrival, cannot yet be penned. One whole song hangs around the name of the tot.
''There is also a strong chance that the baby's name is not known for the first few performances - which is a nightmare.''
Following the birth, writers are also hoping to adapt the musical's script to include Simon's reaction to becoming a father for the first time.
The source added: ''Harry knows it needs to be topical. Simon being a dad cannot be glossed over - it's going to be a dinner-table talking point for months to come.''
