Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow wishes she'd been more daring

Sheryl Crow wishes she had been ''more courageous'' when she was starting out in the music industry.

The 'If It Makes You Happy' hitmaker feels she played it safe when she was a young musician and could have been more bold with the decisions she made.

She said: ''I would go back and tell myself to be braver and more courageous and to go for things that were scary.

''I'd say to work with people that are artistic and on the edge of their game, rather than just people that you know who are comfy and unintimidating.''

The 51-year-old musician revealed a low point in her career was when she was making 2002 record 'C'mon C'mon'., which was released in 2002.

She recalled: ''I had been on the road for the better part of two or three years, and I came home to write that record and didn't have any songs written, and went straight in the studio and wound up spending a million dollars trying to make a record that I just could not finish.''

Sheryl surprisingly says a high point in her life was when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, before being given the all-clear after six-and-a-half weeks of radiation treatment.

She told Classic Rock magazine: ''Strangely, a high point would be when I got diagnosed, because my family and my friends all rallied round me.

''And as low a point as that was, it was a high point to see and feel the shift in my life and to feel that all of those people were really there [for me].''
