Scotland Yard Wants To Hear Murdoch's Hacking Comments

ritain's Channel 4 and the investigative website Exaro have acknowledged that they have been contacted by the Metropolitan Police in London (Scotland Yard) who have asked for a copy of the secretly recorded remarks by Rupert Murdoch to journalists at his London newspaper The Sun. Many of those attending had been arrested as part of the investigation into telephone hacking and payments to police and other officials for information -- something that Murdoch referred to in his remarks as the biggest inquiry ever over next to nothing. The group called Hacked Off, which represents victims of the hacking scandal, had earlier asked the chairman of the parliamentary committee that held hearings into it -- at which Murdoch and his son James testified -- to recall Murdoch and ask him to explain the discrepancies between the expressions of remorse he made to you and the defiant and unrepentant tone of his private remarks earlier this year.
