Soundgarden - Sasquatch! Music Festival's Second Weekend Axed

Organisers of the Sasquatch! Music Festival have scrapped plans to hold a second weekend event in 2014 that was set to feature Soundgarden and Frank Ocean.

The music event, which is held at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington, was to be expanded this year (14) with a second weekend to coincide with America's Independence Day in July (14) as well as the usual festival in May (14).

High profile acts including Soundgarden, Kraftwerk and Frank Ocean had been announced to perform at the July event, but the extra weekend of music has now been cancelled.

President of Live Nation Seattle, Jeff Trisler says, "The Sasquatch! community has spoken. They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day Weekend event with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced.

"We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only."

Tickets for the Independence Day weekend event will be refunded.
