Catherine - Royal Radio Prankster Off Air For Good
One of the Australian radio hosts who perpetrated the notorious Catherine, Duchess Of Cambridge prank call has left her job nearly a year after the incident forced her off air.
Mel Greig, along with her co-host Michael Christian, made a hoax call to a London hospital in December, 2012 while the British royal was being treated for severe morning sickness, and they tricked staff into revealing her condition.
The nurse who took the call, Jacintha Saldanha, was found dead in an apparent suicide days later, prompting the Djs to be taken off-air.
Greig later filed a complaint against her employers at Southern Cross Austereo, the company behind Sydney's station 2Day Fm, claiming they failed in their duty to "maintain a safe workplace".
The dispute has now been resolved and Greig will leave the company on 31 December (13).
A joint statement from both parties reads, "(Both sides have) amicably resolved all aspects of their dispute arising from the royal hoax call... Mel Greig wishes to make it clear that as an announcer she was not responsible for the decision to broadcast the hoax call. Prior to the call being broadcast she made suggestions for changes to be made to the recording of the call. 2Day Fm decided that the call should be broadcast without alteration."
