Tv - Robin Thicke's New Ad Restricted For Tv After Viewer Complaints

A new Tv ad featuring Robin Thicke performing his Blurred Lines hit has been banned from Tv before 7.30pm in the U.K. following a string of complaints about the sexual undertones.

In the commercial for Beats Pill speakers, Thicke and three female models, dressed in see-through nurses' uniforms, dance around with Dj and producer Dr. Dre's latest music accessory while the singer croons his summer anthem's refrain "I know you want it, you're a good girl, can't let it get past me, you're far from plastic, talk about getting blasted, I hate these blurred lines."

Almost 100 viewers have complained to the Advertising Standards Authority after spotting the suggestive commercial, with many of those outraged claiming the clip is sexist and degrading to women, while others felt it was inappropriate to be broadcast at a time when children would be watching Tv.

Bosses at Beats Electronics International insist the ad was not intended to be offensive.

Asa officials have chosen not to ban the ad completely, stating that while they accepted "some viewers might find elements of the ad distasteful", the commercial as a whole "did not show sustained, overtly sexual or provocative behaviour".
