Robin Thicke - Robin Thicke And Matt Damon Join Lgbt Rights Campaign
Singer Robin Thicke and actor Matt Damon have teamed up with bosses at The Human Rights Campaign to lend their support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (Lgbt) community's fight against discrimination in Russia.
Russian lawmakers have faced heavy criticism and a severe backlash from human rights activists, celebrities and politicians around the world since banning the "promotion" of homosexuality earlier this year (13).
Now Thicke and Damon have joined the effort to urge authorities to rethink the ruling by starring in a video with several other prominent figures, including rap mogul Russell Simmons, actress America Ferrera and gay Prison Break star Wentworth Miller, for The Human Rights Campaign's Love Conquers Hate drive.
Bosses at the organisation have donated $100,000 (£67,000) to the Russia Freedom Fund, which aims to raise awareness about the laws.
Thicke and Damon are not the only celebrities who have voiced support for the Russian Freedom Fund - last week (ends13Dec13), Melissa Etheridge was joined by stars including Madonna, Edward Norton and Cyndi Lauper to headline a fundraiser in New York organised by officials at another campaign group, Uprising for Love.
