Rentrak To Report On Digital Movie Viewing
Studios are able to view box office data at a glance every week. They also can take a look at how well their DVDs and Blu-ray Discs are selling. Now, thanks to a new service by Rentrak which launched on Tuesday, they will be able to view how well their films are doing on digital platforms. The tracking service said that it will issue a weekly Top Ten list as part of its Digital Download Essentials platform, providing information on Internet Video On Demand and Electronic Sell-Through for both standard- and high-definition movie rentals and sales. The industry has been seeking a weekly digital movie chart and we are proud to deliver it, said Chris Wilson, president of national television at Rentrak. Only Rentrak, with census-based measurement is able to offer the level of detail required by clients. Like reports about sales for physical home-media products, Rentrak does not release actual sales and rental figures in its digital survey.
Rentrak's top ten digitally purchased and rented movies -- Week of 9/2/13 - 9/8/13:
