Ratings For The Dome Fall; But Still Strong
A week ago, critics were suggesting that Stephen King's 13-week miniseries Under the Dome on CBS could become addictive and draw huge ratings throughout the summer. With the second episode of the series, which aired on Monday, they have begun backing off a bit from that assessment. (Brian Lowry in Variety remarked that some of the series' elements were beginning to look a trifle problematic.) Overnight ratings for the second episode seemed to suggest that some viewers may also have reached a similar conclusion. After premiering last week with 13.5 million total viewers (not including those who watched via DVR over the following three days), the show's ratings dropped 15 percent to 11.5 million viewers for the second episode. Nevertheless that was at least twice the number of viewers who watched any other TV show on broadcast TV Monday night.
