Prince Harry - Prince Harry's South Pole Trek Delayed By Bad Weather
Prince Harry's charity trek to the South Pole has been delayed by 24 hours due to bad weather conditions.
The red-headed royal arrived in Cape Town, South Africa on Sunday (17Nov13) and had expected to fly to the Novo Airbase in Antarctica on Monday (18Nov13) to begin final preparations as he acclimatises himself to the chilly conditions.
However, the flight with his team of disabled British war veterans had to be postponed as a result of strong winds.
A royal spokesperson says, "Their flight to Novo has now been delayed by at least 24 hours due to poor weather conditions in Antarctica. The teams will remain in Cape Town until the weather has improved."
Harry and his pals will race against a group of American veterans led by True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgard, while The Wire star Dominic West will head up a Commonwealth team and race to the southern tip of the world as part of a 16-day Walking With The Wounded challenge.
They will set off on the 208-mile (335-kilometre) challenge on 30 November (13) and all aim to reach their destination in the South Pole by 16 December (13), raising funds for wounded soldiers in the process.
