Cliff Richard - Police search Sir Cliff Richard's home
Police began searching Sir Cliff Richard's home in relation to an alleged historical sex offence.
Police have searched Sir Cliff Richard's home.
The 73-year-old singer is reported to have been absent from the property in Berkshire, South East England, as it was searched by officers earlier today (14.08.14), who were later spotted taking items away from the home, reports BBC News.
The search - which is said to have no connection to Operation Yewtree - was sparked after police received an allegation of a sexual nature involving a teenage boy dating from the 1980s.
However, the officers overseeing Yewtree have been notified.
A police spokesman said: ''Police have gained entry to a property in the Sunningdale area of Berkshire. Officers are currently searching the property.
''A search warrant was granted after police received an allegation of a sexual nature dating back to the 1980s involving a boy who was under the age of 16 at the time.
''No one has been arrested and the owner of the property was not present.''
Sir Cliff - who is believed to be away on holiday in Portugal - has since rubbished the claims and said the allegation was ''completely false''.
The 'Move It' hitmaker - who has sold over 21.5 million singles - is one of Britain's most successful musicians and was knighted by the Queen in 1995.
