Maggie Estep - Poet/author Maggie Estep Dead At 50
Poet and author Maggie Estep has died at the age of 50.
The novelist passed away in Albany, New York on Wednesday (12Feb14), two days after suffering a heart attack, according to the New York Times.
Estep was best known for her spoken-word poetry sessions, which aired on Mtv in the 1990s.
She also took her poetry on the road and performed on the Free Your Mind tour and at the Lollapalooza and Woodstock festivals in 1994, the same year she released an album, No More Mr. Nice Girl. She followed that up with Love Is a Dog From Hell in 1997.
She also performed with Recoil and appeared on the band's 1997 album Unsound Methods.
Her novels include Diary of an Emotional Idiot, Gargantuan, Hex and Flamethrower and Alice Fantastic.
