Nick Cave - Nick Cave And Vampire Weekend Lead Aim Awards Nominations

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Vampire Weekend, The Xx and Alt-J look set to be the big winners at this year's (13) AIM Independent Music Awards after landing a slew of top nominations ahead of the British prizegiving.

The Australian rocker's band will compete for the coveted Independent Album of the Year trophy after landing a nod for their last record, Push the Sky Away, along with nine other acts including Vampire Weekend (Modern Vampires of the City) and The xx (Coexist).

Alt-J are nominated for two prizes at the ceremony, which celebrates the best in independent music, in the Most Played New Independent Act category and for Hardest Working Band or Artist.

Other stars who will be competing for awards include Johnny Marr and The National, who will fight it out for the Best Live Act prize, and MACklemore & Ryan Lewis, who are nominated for two awards including Independent Video of the Year for their hit Thrift Shop.

The trophies will be handed out at a ceremony in London on 3 September (13). During the show, music veteran Billy Bragg will pick up this year's (13) AIM Independent Music Awards Outstanding Contribution prize.
