Morrissey - Morrissey Wanted Children After 9/11
Singer Morrissey discussed fathering children with a female pal as the world reeled from the aftershock of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The former The Smiths star, who used his newly-released memoir to confirm long-running rumours he had a relationship with a male photographer in the 1990s, considered becoming a dad in 2001.
He admits talking to pal Tina Dehghani about the possibility of fathering kids with her in the days after terrorists slaughtered almost 3,000 people in the U.S.
In the book, titled Autobiography, Morrissey writes that he had an "uncluttered commitment" with Dehghani in his 40s, adding, "Tina and I discuss the unthinkable act of producing a mewling miniature monster. Had I ever previously known such a thought?"
The singer also tells of his horror watching the attacks on the World Trade Center unfolding on Tv from his home in Los Angeles.
He writes, "With a feeling of utter impotence I spend the entire day watching the television news reports of the Twin Towers horror, wondering whether any meaning could be left in the world. As the second plane glides into the tower I suddenly have no words to voice the hurt inside me... The heavy-heartedness I feel for the people strapped into their seats - whose deaths I have just witnessed... (It is) the most appalling sight imaginable. This poor and pathetic human race... The scene is untranslatable."
