Morrissey - Morrissey Dodges Norway Grilling
Singer Morrissey has dodged potentially uncomfortable questioning over his controversial statement about a massacre in Norway by snubbing a press conference in the country.
The former The Smiths star has been booked to appear on the bill of the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo on Wednesday (11Dec13) but the move sparked outrage among locals.
The scandal centres around the rocker's remarks comparing the Utoya massacre to the meat industry just days after the atrocity in 2011, in which 77 people were slaughtered.
However, Norway's press has been denied the chance to grill the star about the comment as he has refused to attend a media question-and-answer session this week (beg09Dec13).
Other stars who are due to perform at the show on Wednesday - including Mary J. Blige and James Blunt - will attend the traditional pre-gig press conference, but organisers have been told Morrissey will not be present.
It's the second disappointment in days for Morrissey fans - on Sunday (08Dec13) it emerged that a proposed book-signing session in New York on Thursday (12Dec13) is not going ahead due to a "miscommunication" between the singer and the store's management.
