Morgan Freeman has been granted the Freedom of the City of London for his acting achievements and charity work.

The Academy Award winning actor was bestowed the honour at a ceremony in the U.K capital on Wednesday (12Nov14). It traditionally permits the recipient to be drunk on the streets of the city without fearing arrest, and to drive sheep over London Bridge, however these privileges are mostly symbolic in modern times.

Previous recipients of the honour include fellow actors Colin Firth and Sir Ian MCKellen, writer Rudyard Kipling and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.
