Tony Hancock - Missing Tony Hancock Shows Set For Broadcast
Five lost episodes of British comedy legend Tony Hancock's hit radio show are to be broadcast as part of an upcoming anniversary celebration.
Hancock became one of the biggest stars of the 1950s and '60s with his show Hancock's Half Hour, in which he played a fictionalised version of himself as a struggling comedian.
More than 100 episodes of the programme were recorded but 20 were mislaid by Bbc staff.
Now original writers Ray Galton and Alan Simpson have chosen five of the missing episodes to be re-recorded this month (Apr14) with Pirates of the Caribbean actor Kevin MCNally playing Hancock.
The Missing Hancocks will be aired on the Bbc's Radio 4 in November (14) to mark the 60th anniversary of the show's first broadcast.
Series co-producer Neil Pearson tells British newspaper The Guardian, "We will be re-creating as closely as possible the experience you would have had listening to your radio all those years ago. The scripts are perfect and timeless."
