Miley Cyrus - Miley Cyrus Scores Chart Double In U.k.
Miley Cyrus has scored a chart double in the U.K. by hitting the top spot in the singles and albums countdown, becoming the first artist this year to achieve the feat.
The provocative pop star's Wrecking Ball has beaten Eminem's Berzerk to the top spot of the singles chart, while her Bangerz release keeps Chase & Status' Brand New MAChine from number one on the albums list.
Olly Murs was the last artist to claim a chart double in the U.K. when his single Troublemaker and album Right Place, Right Time hit the top spots in December (12).
Upon hearing the news, Cyrus released a statement which read: "I truly appreciate the love I'm getting from the U.K. Not only is this my second number one single, but even more amazing is my album has also gone in at number one... I can't wait to be back in the U.K. next month."
Cyrus has become a headline grabber of late after a risque performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August (13) - she also bared all for her Wrecking Ball video and then, earlier this month (Oct13), she became caught up in a Twitter war with Sinead O'Connor after the Irish singer sent the 20 year old an open letter via Twitter.com, in which she urged her to stop "prostituting" herself.
Wrecking Ball is the former Disney star's second number one U.K. single - We Can't Stop topped the chart this summer (13).
