Aeg Live - Michael Jackson's family lose case against AEG

Micheal Jackson's family have lost their lawsuit against AEG Live.

The late 'Thriller' hitmaker's mother, Katherine Jackson, sued the entertainment company for a £181m payout, accusing them of negligence for hiring doctor Conrad Murray who is serving time for the ''involuntary manslaughter'' of the pop legend.

A jury compromising of six men and six women have ruled AEG were not negligent for hiring the doctor on Wednesday night (02.10.13) bringing a five-month-long trial which was held at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, Los Angeles, to a close.

Conrad was convicted for his part in the tragedy in November 2011 following Michael's death from acute Propofol intoxication in 2009 and is still currently serving his at the Los Angeles County Jail however the doctor - who is set to be released on October 28 two years ahead of schedule - refused to have any part in the current trial.

Court officials announced that the jury, who began deliberating last Thursday (26.09.13), had reached a verdict approximately one hour before it was read out in court at 3:30pm.

A unanimous verdict was not required in the case. Only nine of the 12 jurors had to agree.

Katherine, 83, and Michael's three children, Prince Michael, 16, Paris, 15, and Blanket, 11, accused the concert promoters of hiring and not properly investigating Dr. Murray ahead of the singer's 'This Is It' residency, which would have seen him perform 50 concerts in the O2 Arena in London.

But AEG Live argued that they had no idea Michael was receiving Propofol for insomnia on a nightly basis from Dr. Murray.

The disgraced physician was sentenced to four years for his role in the King of Pop's death but it was recently revealed that he would be released early on October 28 due to his good behaviour.
