Michael Douglas - Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Split. Why?
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are ''taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage.''
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have reportedly decided to take a break from their marriage.
The Golden couple - who have been married for 13 years and have kids Dylan, 13, and Carys, ten, together - have not been seen publicly since April this year when they attended the 40th Annual Chaplin Award Gala in New York and need some time to work on their marriage.
According to a statement released by Catherine's publicist: ''[The couple are] taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage''.
People magazine report that despite ''the break'' neither has filed for divorce or moved toward a legal separation.
Rumours of problems between the pair began to spread when Michael was spotted playing golf on his own in Italy last week, as this is a past time he usually enjoys with his wife.
Both Michael and Catherine - who wed in 2000 in a lavish ceremony at Manhattan's Plaza Hotel in New York City - have faced their own issues throughout their time together.
Catherine supported her husband as he battled throat cancer in 2011, while he was there for her while she faced bipolar disorder.
